Sharing radio airtime with the country’s sought-after musicians are Globe Kantabataan’s final five contenders. Globe Kantabataan is the country’s first band and youth anthem competition to cover major geographical areas around the country.

7th Skool’s Skool Bus, DROP d’s Bagong Pananaw, Footprint’s Lakas Kabataan, Ichthus’ Sayaskwela, and Jylz’s Iba Tayo now reach thousands of listeners as radio stations have begun playing them.

While the songs are bound by a theme focusing on the value of education, the five bands utilized different musical genres to send the message.
Skool Bus is a punk rock about diligence in studying. The intense, forceful vocals of Gideon Reyes tell listeners that success awaits people who have good education.

Bohol contender DROP d’s Bagong Pananaw is an alternative piece about preparedness and eagerness for the opening of the school year, indeed a means of realizing their dreams.
Footprint asks the question in its rock song, Lakas Kabataan: have you already done enough to start achieving your goals?

Taking on a jazzy song, the voice of Carizza Jasmine Panaligan, lead singer of Ichthus, is as clear and affecting as the song’s message. Sayaskwela is a wake-up call for students who fail to see their own skills, intelligence and abilities. It urges students to start harnessing the power they yield by studying.

Another powerful performance comes from NCR representative JYLZ. Iba Tayo pays tribute to where relationships were built, lessons were learned, and knowledge was used. It likewise expresses the preparedness to showcase what has been learned and secure success. Iba Tayo also delivers a powerful message – change starts from you.

Whose song should earn the top spot? Who will win P100,000 for the band and another P100,000 for their school? Who will star in their own video which will be shown in MTV?
Help your favorite band secure the top spot by voting for them. Voting started on August 8, 2006 and will end on August 25. Catch the finals to be featured on ASAP, August 27, 2006.
