Despite teh pressures coming in the way of Channel 10 (Australia) franchise owner of Big Brother Australia, they’ve told Sydney Herald that Big Brother Aussie will not be pulled off the air.

The Communications Watchdog has found that no broadcasting regulations were breached over the weekends incident involving John, Ashley, and Camilla.

Helen Coonan, Minister for Communications had ordered an immediate review of Big Brother and Channel 10 after the incident was broadcast live onto the internet early Saturday morning. The ACMA recognized that the footage was never shown by Channel 10 on television, nor had it been referred to on the Big Brother program.

Coonan today said that the ACMA had found that “because the internet footage was screened live as a webcast, and not stored, it isn’t technically broadcast (under the existing Broadcasting Services Act).”

Coonan has asked for the ACMA to review the key television codes, making suggestions to extend these to internet broadcasts. If such codes were to come in place more censorship could be expected on the live streams as they are (presently) streamed from a server located in Australia.
