Winning the Pinoy Big Brother Season 2 is not only about being true to yourself, so the “Hindi ako plastic and What you see is what you get” type can’t win it.

Aside from being “Artistahin” (as PBB puts it) you should get the people’s sentiment. Joining Pinoy Big Brother is not all about ‘A’ housemate but the entirety of Pinoy Big Brother community. In short, it’s not all about YOU. It’s not all about Dionne (Primetime Star) it’s not all about who’s normal and who’s not (Gee-Ann). It’s not who’s pure pinoy or half-pinoy (Mickey, Zeke, Kian). It’s not ALL about Big Brother (Direk Lauren).
Big Brother chooses housemates for him, the viewers and the management’s amusement.

So being a tree stump (Saicy & Bodie) may save you from nomination night, but not from the viewer’s and Big Brother’s point of view. Secrets being kept from another housemate backstab style (Wendy & Maricris) wont do good for you either. Nor being too nosy (Bea) caring and malandi malambing to another housemate (Dionne).

If you dont have the characteristics that the ABS-CBN Management, the viewers and the other housemates’ would love, don’t expect to stay inside the Big Brother house for a long time. afterall… nobody is perfect

AYAW NILA SA UGALI KO, PERO DI AKO MARUNONG MAGPAKA-PLASTIC

Picture: Jasmin Engracia

JASMIN Engracia was evicted from Pinoy Big Brother last Sunday. Did she know she’ll be the one to be ousted? “I felt it na akong maaalis kasi ayaw ng mga kasamahan ko sa ‘kin,” she says. “Ako naman, I was just being my true self. Kung ano ako sa labas, ‘yun din ang pinakita ko sa loob ng bahay ni Kuya. I tried my best to change, but nahirapan talaga akong mag-adjust sa kanila. I didn’t know na-hurt ko sila. The truth is I didn’t like to join PBB but a friend of mine lined up for me at nakuha nga ako.

Even if we’re friends, pag ayokong ginawa mo, I’ll just avoid you. When I came out na nga, my relatives told me, maldita raw ako. Iisipin ng tao, ganun talaga ko kasama. E, ganun talaga ko. Frank. Kapag naiinis ako, nilalabas ko agad. Parang normal lang sa’kin ang behavior ko, pero ‘yun pala, they think I’m atrebida and mahadera.”

So what did she learn inside PBB? “I learned na hindi pala gusto ng tao ang ugali ko. Di ako marunong makisama. Pero hindi naman kasi ako marunong magpaka-plastic.”

A former Miss Zamboanga, she admits she has a boyfriend, Biboy Nailes, her classmate in Nursing at Mindanao Medical Foundation College in Davao City. “Panay nga ang away namin. Siguro mahirap talaga ako makasundo.”

Jasmin looks fat on TV but, in person, she does look better and slimmer. So would she join showbiz now? “Hindi ko naman plan mag-artista. It depends on ABS kung anong plan nila for me. Basta ako, uuwi muna sa Davao kasi homesick na ko sa friends ko roon.”

Her parents separated when she was only two years old. She has a younger sister, Rosalyn, who lives with their mom in Ozamis. An aunt in the U.S. sends her to nursing school. “Ayoko naman ng Nursing. But my aunt wants it kasi mas madali raw mapasok ng work. Gusto ko, Masscomm.”

To augment their family’s income, she sold vanity numbers SIM card and cellphone.

Her biggest sale was P50,000. She also tries her luck in the casino. Her biggest win is also P50,000. Who does she want to win in PBB? “Gee-Ann, kasi siyang naka-close ko among the girls. But I think it’s Mickey who’ll win kasi everyone likes him.”

How about Nel, who has not been nominated? “Ay, kung nandun pa ako, siyang ino-nominate ko.”

That is “IF” you were still inside. Tough luck! Jasmin. We tried…
