Nowadays, it’s all Kapamilya - Kapuso Rivalry … and market follower “ABC Iba Tayo 5″. But did you know that in the 80’s (and 70’s) it was RPN9 who produces some of the Best Shows.
Well as far as I can remember, Saturday morning cartoons were always good at channel 9.
Voltez V, Bugs Bunny, Woodywood pecker and a whole lot more. Yes it was pure haven for a lil’ kid like me who have to wait until saturday to watch cartoons. No Cartoon Network, No Disney Channel & No Nickelodeon yet.
Eat Bulaga was also a part of RPN along with Nora Aunor’s “Superstar”. ABS-CBN’s John en Shirley is like a continued series of RPN 9’s John and Marsha. (Hinehele pa ako ng nanay ko mga panahon na ito). But I can remember that after 6pm, that’s the time they’ll switch their stereo band on and audio becomes clear. Hindi ko inabutan ang ibang nabanggit na show dito! Wala kayong proweba!

RPN9 and Solar Entertainment Channel

Anyway going back, now that Radio Philippines Network 9 and International Broadcasting Company 13’s studios(they share the same studio) at Broadcast City are all dilapidated and old,
they sure need help to get back on their feet. That’s where Solar Entertainment Channel comes in. They’ll help RPN 9 to produce shows for them to broadcast.

Solar Entertainment is the same company who gets the Pacquiao fights on our local channels. Maybe to bid as a Local Sports channel could really give RPN 9 some boost. Imagine soap operas at Channel 2 & 7 but when “Dad” comes in to watch their daily dose of basketball or boxing or better yet UFC (Let’s Get It On!!!) Oh yeah… Hehehe. *click*

RPN 9 Solar Entertainment is eyeing on ABC5’s spot in the TV Ratings as a market follower from Market Leader/ Challenger ABS-CBN & GMA7 (not in particular order, hehe). Well awll we have to do is wait. Time comes I dont need cable TV services no more… oopps scratch that, we dont have a 24 hour Nickelodeon yet.
